CEO Message of Thanksgiving
“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”
—William Arthur Ward
Dear Friends,
As we move into the Thanksgiving season and approach the year’s end, it is always a time of reflection. A time of remembering, with gratitude, those who have helped us reach this point. It is also a time to consider new beginnings as we look ahead to new activities and possibilities. As I complete my first full year as CEO of this remarkable agency, I am grateful for those who’ve contributed to Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mission for the past 50-plus years. Those who have helped us transition from a small, grassroots gathering of community mentors into the thriving organization serving over 750 children that we are today. And, as 2023 approaches, I am excited to consider new ways to increase our impact.
In the end, it is all about relationships and connections. BBBS is a relationship-building organization. During this past year we have celebrated the return of being together and it is a reminder that such connections are vital to us all.
It was such fun to return to the bowling alley with so many of our supporters for our annual Bowl for Kids event, to honor our graduating Littles with our Promising Futures Scholarship Ceremony, to watch Littles and their families enjoy the lake and sailboats at our annual Hobie Day, and to gather with our family of supporters in their finest “black-tie” attire as we once again enjoyed our annual Ice Ball Gala. All wonderful events, which are even better when we can meet face to face and heart to heart to support our amazing matches.
We cherish our relationships with our Bigs, with our Littles, and with their families, as year after year we see the amazing growth unleashed within these children. This BBBS community made up of staff, volunteers, board members, donors, and community partners, provides a support system for hundreds of kids every year, changing their lives for the better, forever.
I am thankful for each of you and the huge difference you make in the lives of these children. You are more than donors. You are more than Bigs. You are more than family. You are difference-makers in our world. Thank you all for the many ways you contribute to BBBS and help further our mission.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
With gratitude,
Leah Meunier Ph.D.
