Celebrating Match Anniversaries

After more than 50 years of connecting Bigs and Littles, we know that, like most relationships, the longer a match lasts, the stronger it becomes. This year, we have begun hosting monthly celebrations to recognize matches who are reaching one-year anniversaries and other major match milestones.

On Thursday, February 9 we held the first of our Match Anniversary events, hosting 5 matches who had just reached their one-year anniversaries in the BBBS Mentoring Center. “We kicked off what hopefully will be something that not only grows in attendance but shines brighter and brighter,” said Christina Snell, Senior Director of Match Support. “The matches that joined us last night had nothing but wonderful experiences to report!”

At our Match Anniversary celebration, matches had the opportunity to meet each other, enjoy some snacks, and talk about some of their favorite outings. They were then encouraged to draw an image representing a favorite outing or memory, and their artwork was displayed on our new “Celebrating Match Moments” wall.

Matches also received certificates documenting their anniversaries, along with some BBBS swag, and everyone posed for a group photo in front of their newly created artwork.

“It was so nice to fill our space with our families and Bigs,” Christina added. “I told them that they were the inaugural guests for an event that will hopefully grow into an auditorium setting one day. It is so important to take the time to recognize our matches and their families.”
