Amplify Austin Starts Next Week!
Amplify Austin is a 24-hour day of community-wide online giving, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas is excited to be participating for another year! This year’s goal is to raise $15,000 to create more life-changing mentoring relationships for children in Central Texas.
There are more than 250 children who are currently waiting to be matched with mentors of their own. Your gift can put a child on the path to success today.
Gifts up to $10,000 will be matched dollar for dollar, making your contribution go twice as far!
Sheri & Kalaina
Bigs and Littles have a lot of fun together. For Big Sister Sheri and her Little Sister Kalaina, trying many of the outdoor adventures Central Texas has to offer has been a highlight of their match. “Some of our favorites have been hiking at River Place Nature Trail and Walnut Creek, and sailing at Bob Wentz Park,” said Sheri.
It is in the midst of these fun experiences that a deep connection begins to take place. It’s a connection that has life-changing impacts for both the Little and the Big. “Kalaina has matured immensely over the last two years. She’s aware of her strengths and weaknesses,” said Sheri, “which isn’t something you commonly see in a 16-year-old!”
“Being able to develop a relationship, introduce someone to new experiences, and support them in whatever comes along is very enriching,” said Sheri. “I’ve really enjoyed being able to watch Kalaina grow over the last two years. She’s turning into a wonderful young adult, and I can’t wait to see what successes she has in her future.”
